At Larb Muang, we’re sharing the heart of Northern Thailand with you. The smoky aroma of Nam Prik roasting in the morning and the sound of fresh herbs being ground for Larb Muang are just a few of the true flavours of the North.
Our food isn’t the kind you’ll find in big cities like Bangkok. It’s the stuff from the hills and villages—simple, strong, and made with heart. These aren’t easy to find, even in other regions of Thailand. But here, we keep it REAL just the way it’s meant to be.
Khao soi (egg noodles in yellow curry)
A Northern Thai classic that’s loved by locals and tourists alike. Khao Soi (ข้าวซอย) is a must-try when you visit Northern Thailand. Creamy coconut curry noodles, perfectly balanced with the perfect mix of salty, sweet, and sour flavours, topped with crispy noodles and fresh herbs. It's the dish that combines all textures in one and warms you from the inside out.
Pla Too Tod
(Fried Mackerel)Pla Too Tod (ปลาทูทอด) or crispy, golden-fried mackerel has long been a staple in Thai kitchens for generations due to its availability, affordability, versatility, and easy digestion. Fresh fish with a savoury crunch, perfectly paired with spicy chili dips. We serve it with steamed veggies and boiled eggs for a little extra goodness.
In Thailand, there's a saying: "กินอะไรถึงสวย กินข้าวกับน้ำพริก", meaning “Eat what makes you beautiful—eat rice with chili dip.” The combination of fried mackerel and chili dip is loved not only for its taste but for its simplicity and satisfying balance of flavours.
KAI Pam (grilled Egg in banana leaves)
Wrapped in fragrant banana leaves, Kai Pam (ไข่ป่าม) is a tender herbs-infused grilled egg dish, traditionally grilled over a charcoal stove. This grilling method gives it a distinct, smoky aroma that adds to its deliciousness. It’s the kind of dish that’s perfect on a chilly, foggy day in the Northern Thai mountains, where the smoke from the grill lingers in the cool air.
Kai Pam brings a comforting, home-cooked feel to the table. Light yet satisfying, it’s the perfect way to experience the warmth and simplicity of Northern Thai cooking.
Khanom Mor Kaeng
A sweet, aromatic treat that’s pure comfort. Khanom Mor Kaeng (ขนมหม้อแกง) is a creamy taro custard dessert made with coconut milk, egg, and palm sugar, baked to golden perfection. Topped with crispy fried shallots—yes, it may sound unusual, but trust us, it works. The salty shallot crunch balances the sweetness, creating a rich, layered flavour that you can only find in Thai food.

Meet chef porpy and the team
I'm Chef Porpy, born and raised in Doi Saket, where food is a way of showing love. My team and I opened Larb Muang to share the Northern Thai dishes we grew up with. We want to keep our roots alive and share them with people who’ve never had a chance to taste "the North".
Now, we’ve brought these flavours to Toronto, where you can experience the kind of food you’d find at a family table in Northern Thailand. If you're new to it, come on in, take a seat, and let us cook for you like you’re one of our own.
